Community Involvement
AECFV understands that being the best medical facility possible includes reaching out to the community we serve in order to share our knowledge of animal care. It is simply not possible for us to succeed if our facility, doctors and animal care knowledge is detached from the larger community.
We offer first aid courses taught by veterinarians and registered technicians. Topics include how to handle common toxins, bleeding, dietary issues, eye injuries, allergies, seizures, trauma and CPR, tick removal and more.
Our courses are open to anyone 14 and older who has an interest in animals. After you have taken the course, you'll have basic first aid skills for your dog or cat.
Class participants will also be able to tour the emergency clinic and you will be awarded a certificare of completion.

We also work closely with a number of wildlife rescue and humane organizations by volunteering our medical expertise and helping when possible with their fundraising events. We would also ask you to spend a few moments learning more about these important organizations and seeing if you could be of service as well.
These include:
Critter Care Wildlife Society — This nonprofit organization is dedicated to the treatment, care and release of sick, injured and orphaned mammal species native to British Columbia's Southern and Lower Mainland. CCWS is also very involved in community-based education programs at primary, secondary and collegiate levels as well as through a range of community outreach programs.
Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society — Based in Ladner, OWL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to public education and rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned birds. In particular, OWL focuses its efforts on birds of prey and receives patients from across Canada and the United States, though the majority is from the Lower Mainland.
Langley Animal Protection Society — This nonprofit animal welfare organization works through a progressive and humane approach to improve the lives and adoptability of stray animals throughout Langley and surrounding areas. The group also provides animal control services to the city and township of Langley.
AECFV is also proud of the support we provide the SPCA and several other animal control and protection shelters located throughout the Lower Mainland. Through these very important, community-based partnerships we are helping improve and sustain the welfare of all animals throughout British Columbia.
