Animal Health Technicians

Andrea—Animal Health Technician
Animal Health Technician Andrea has been supporting the staff at the clinic with triage, nursing care, radiographs, bloodwork, anesthesia and surgical prep responsibilities since June of 2007. Andrea has an Animal Health Technology diploma and is a registered technician in British Columbia. She is also working toward her emergency critical care specialty.
"Emergency medicine is always different every day. Always exciting," Andrea said of what she experiences at the clinic. "I love our high standard of care."
She jokes that she's the youngest technician on staff and when asked what unique attributes she brings to the clinic, Andrea said "I think I'm hilarious! That counts, doesn't it?"
Andrea has a Great Dane named Carlotta, a Border Collie named Ali, 2 Chihuahas called Aodhan & Phoenix, and two domestic short hair cats, Gordie and Cleo. She is a member of the Western Great Dane Club of Canada, and is involved in showing, agility, & competitive obedience.

Jessica—Animal Health Technician
Animal Health Technician Jessica has been working with animals for the past 10 years and joined AECFV in January of 2008. She does lab work, x-rays, blood collections, and surgery prep. Jessica has an Animal Health Technician Diploma from the University College of Caribou.
"I like the variety this job provides, and admire the quality of the veterinary care," Jessica said about her daily responsibilities.
Jessica has three dogs: a Jack Russell Terrier named Dizzy, a Chihuahua named Dingo, and a Chihuahua named Thomas. She loves spending time with her kids, as well as boating, walking, shopping, and the movies.

Kerri—Animal Health Technician
Animal Health Technician Kerri has been working with AECFV since September of 2010 and working professionally with animals for 14 years. She has a variety of responsibilities, including patient nursing care, radiographs, anesthesia and preparation of surgical patients, and caring for our equipment and instruments.
The most satisfaction she receives from her job is when she sees a case "followed through to completion and seeing the difference made to the pet's quality of life."
Kerri is a registered Animal Health Technologist with the Animal Health Technologists Association of British Columbia.
"I enjoy the variety of patients that we are able to help; it makes for a challenging and interesting job. I also enjoy working with a team of people who care about the patients' best interests and make every effort to make them comfortable and happy during their stay," Kerri said about life at the clinic.
Her dedication to animals can be seen in the large brood she oversees at home, which includes three Golden Retrievers, Jackson, MacKenzie and Alex, a Lab named Davis, and three domestic short hair cats, Tanner, Thomas and Robbie. In her spare time, Kerri goes hiking, mountain biking and photography.

Sandi—Animal Health Technician
Animal Health Technician Sandi has been with AECFV since December of 1996 and has worked with animals professionally for 24 years. Sandi assists with taking x-rays, administering anesthesia, doing bloodwork and general patient care.
Sandi is a registered Animal Health Technician.
She has a farm and on it she takes care of her two horses, Honey and Puddles, and two dogs, a Shepherd X named Jewel and a 3-year old Chihuahua named Chili. Sandi is a member of the Langley Riders Society and enjoys horseback riding, working on her farm and bike riding.

Shacara—Animal Health Technician
Shacara is technician on the oncology service, helping to prepare and administer chemotherapy treatments, as well as performing triage and emergency critical care nursing of our patients. She brings a cheerful and upbeat disposition to her work every day.
"This clinic practices the gold standard of veterinary medicine, which is important to me. The doctors here have access to the most modern medical equipment and practice the latest techniques in veterinary medicine. This allows me to learn and add to my skills as a tech each day," Shacara says about her daily experience at AECFV. "Although it can be sad sometimes, I appreciate being part of the oncology team here. It's also rewarding to be a part of the success stories, too. Extending a good quality of life for the animal and owner is awesome to see."
Shacara has a diploma in Animal Health Technology.
She divides her time among her animals, Charlie, Simon, Calvin and Joey, a 3-legged rescue cat, and with Ivy, a 3-year old Black Lab. Shacara also teaches a veterinary hospital assistance course, and enjoys snowboarding, camping, fishing, ATVing, poker, tattoos and wine tasting.

Tiffany—Animal Health Technician
Animal Health Technician Tiffany has been with the Animal Emergency Clinic at the AECFV for the past four years. She's involved with patient nursing, radiology, surgery, critical care, and lab work. Tiffany has an Animal Health Technician Diploma from Douglas College. Tiffany has been working with animals professionally for the past 12 years.
"The most important part of my job is making a critical patient more stable, and to know that what I did could potentially save the life of the animal," Tiffany said when talking about what makes her job so satisfying. "Helping animals get through their illness, or emergency and seeing them recover makes it all worthwhile."
Tiffany spends part of her day caring for her variety of pets, which includes J-Dah, a 9-year old Rottweiler, Shor-t, a 4-year old Staffordshire Terrier; and her two cats Flash Gordon and Domino. Tiffany enjoys riding horses, going on road trips, camping and hanging out with her friends.
