This position provides an excellent opportunity for confident and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy the responsibility of maintaining patient confidentiality while ensuring medical records are accurate, organized, secured, and accessible in electronic and print forms.

Veterinary Medical Record Liaisons directly assist our veterinarians in writing the paper and electronic patient medical records. They draft patient medical records for the veterinarian to review, amend, and finalize by compiling information from oral dictation and hand written or electronic notes provided by veterinarians and support staff. Medical record liaisons also perform some reception duties, including assembling medical records for filing and sending to referring hospitals.

Medical record liaisons are in no way directly responsible for patient care. They work side-by-side with veterinarians and support staff to maintain detailed, complete, and organized records of patients’ medical care. This position requires complex reasoning and abstract thinking to accurately, impartially transcribe notes while also ensuring the medical record is a coherent and cohesive interpretation of the data.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
*create, manage, edit, and interpret patient medical records
*accurately transcribe and organize patients’ medical histories, symptoms and diagnoses, test results, treatments, and procedures
*compile necessary components of the record and accurately assemble the completed record for filing
*maintain and reinforce relationship with referring veterinarians by sending completed records or updates on their patients under our care

*has impeccable critical thinking and communication skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a way that others will understand
*has experience with veterinary medical records
*is or can easily become conversant in medical terminology and veterinary procedures
*will be comfortable using specific veterinary practice management software
* has strong computer literacy and professional command of the written English language
* can maintain positive, cooperative relationships with other employees
*can take initiative and maintain attention to detail in a busy clinic setting

Veterinary medical record liaisons work weekday evening shifts from 21:00-02:00, and weekend shifts from 14:00-19:00 & 21:00-02:00. This is a part time position with the potential for increased hours as demand increases. Candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
